Tuesday August 12th 2008:
Secret Sphere will be the band taking the empty spot on the festival after Wastefall's cancellation. We're really happy to give this opportunity to Secret Sphere as they've proved themselves a more than worthy live band that will for sure bring some high energetic power metal to the ProgPower stage. In fact, Secret Sphere has earlier on performed at both ProgPower USA and ProgPower UK, so it's only natural that they now get the chance to perform in Scandinavia too. Saturday August 02nd 2008: Wastefall has announced that they have split up as a band, and thus we are not going to feature them on our festival. It is a big shame to see such a great band part ways, but in this tough business there's not much you can do. The band has released an official statement on their website www.wastefall.com. We will soon release the name of the band taking their spot on the festival. Thursday May 08th 2008: We've made two changes to the line-up. The bands that will not be playing of the already announced line-up are: Raintime and Anubis Gate! Instead, we are very proud to announce that the two "replacements" are: Wastefall from Greece who will hit the stage as second band of the evening on Friday October 31st 2008. This young progressive metal band should appeal to fans of Pain Of Salvation, Opeth and Porcupine Tree. Eventhough the band actually mixed their latest release, 2006's "Self Exile", here in Denmark, they've never performed live in front of a Danish audience, so ProgPower Scandinavia gives them the chance to finally meet the metal fans up here. Lanfear out of Germany is second band to perform on Saturday November 1st 2008, and also for this band we're talking about their "debut" on Danish soil. Powerful metal with a progressive touch, probably most comparable to bands such as Evergrey and Fates Warning, is what this band has to offer. With their new album "X To The Power Of Ten" coming out in September, the ProgPower gig will be the perfect promotion vehicle for Lanfear. Wednesday March 12th 2008: Finally we can announce the last band for PP Scan '08 - the headliner for Friday October 31st: Vanden Plas from Germany is one of the most well-respected melodic progressive metal bands around. With a 20 year history behind them, the band made their big mark on the scene back in the mid-nineties with such great discs as "Colour Temple" and "The God Thing". Their latest release, the impressive conceptual album "Christ O" from 2006 see the band taking another step further in combining easy-listening hard rock melodies with technical prog-metal. Last time Vanden Plas played in Copenhagen was almost 10 years ago, as support for Dream Theater in front of 5.000 fans. With their show on ProgPower Scandinavia, Friday October 31st 2008, we're bringing back Vanden Plas for a long overdue performance here in Denmark. Tuesday March 04th 2008: We can now announce the co-headliner for the Saturday part of PP Scan '08: DeadSoul Tribe from Austria/USA is the band based around vocalist/songwriter Devon Graves, formerly known by the name of Buddy Lackey, frontman for progressive metal legends Psychotic Waltz. With his band DeadSoul Tribe Devon has released five critically acclaimed discs over the past 6 years, and are now more than just a cult-act in this scene. Ranging from the genre-typical progressive metal tunes to a more modern-edged atmosphere, DeadSoul Tribe manage to grab the listener with their music and take us all on an emotional rollercoaster. With DST as co-headliner on Saturday November 01st, we're sure the audience will get an exciting and unforgettable performance. Friday February 22nd 2008: It's about time to start announcing the headliners and co-headliner for PP Scan '08: Pain Of Salvation from Sweden doesn't really need any presentation. The Eskilstuna band is undoubtedly the premiere band for a ProgPower festival, having played at both PP Holland and PP USA, not to mention several gigs here in Copenhagen over the years. With vocalist Daniel Gildenlöw in front, a man not only being a "hard rock vocalist", but also an entertainer, storyteller and a man with something at heart, Pain Of Salvation is the perfect headliner for our festival and has therefore been chosen as that to make sure the crowd will leave the party with a big smile on their lips when the show is over Saturday November 1st 2008. Pagan's Mind, Norway's leading progressive metal band is hereby booked for ProgPower Scandinavia 2008. Eventhough Norway has brought us many great prog acts in the last decade, Pagan's Mind have made that difference which has brought them worldwide recognition within only 4 albums under their belt. The last disc, "God's Equation" has received praise from the media everywhere, and with a bunch of tours and festival shows in the backpack, Pagan's Mind will undoubtedly make The Rock and PP Scan '08 steaming, as they enter the stage as fourth band of the evening, Friday October 31st. New sponsors added: Inside Out Music Limb Music TargetShop Friday February 15th 2008: And here we are yet again with the announcement of the next two bands to perform at PP Scan '08. "Gather Ye Wild" is one of the song titles of this amazing Danish/Swedish band, Wuthering Heights. A blend of top-notch musicians from as diverse bands as Astral Doors, Lions Share, Loch Vostok, Pyramaze and Manticora, that will now be gathered for one of their rare performances (and first in Denmark since 1999). Wuthering Heights is the band that mixes so many beautiful music styles into one perfect diamond of sounds, and with the ever-relevant lyrics of musical mastermind Erik Ravn, this band is an audience favourite no matter where they perform. We expect them to be so too at ProgPower Scandinavia 2008. To light up a dark Copenhagen in November, we have summoned the sun all the way from California in the form of one of this Worlds most equilibristic and technical bands - Zero Hour. A band that has played on both the American and the Dutch versions of ProgPower. Why should the Scandinavians be robbed of the chance of watching this amazing band? With the twin brothers Jasun and Troy Tipton on bass and guitar, the extreme shredding is secured. With Mike Guy to keep the rhythms alive and the great voice of Chris Salines (ex-Power Of Omens) to top the cake, the energy and musicianship of Zero Hour will secure a show that will not be forgotten at The Rock and in the minds of the audience. New sponsors added: Sensory Records Friday February 07th 2008: It's with great pleasure we can now announce the next two bands for ProgPower Scandinavia 2008. Nostradameus from Sweden will be the band to kick off the entire festival Friday October 31st. A fantastic live band that unites full-speed-ahead power metal, classic metal anthems, tons of energy and a good deal of technicality. The bands made one of the best power metal discs in 2007 with the awesome "Pathways", and went straight on a European tour with Jon Oliva's Pain to great success all around. With the next album due sometime in 2008, this is the perfect band to get our festival started out. Raintime hailing from Italy is second band on stage Saturday November 01st. In spite of their young age (both as individuals as well as a band) they clearly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in 2007, due to their amazing "Flies & Lies" album, gaining huge praisal from media and fans all around the world. A unique mixture of modern day melo-death metal and more powerful progressive music, that will attract an audience from all the different scenes within the heavy metal genre. New sponsors added: AFM Records Lifeforce Records Monday February 04th 2008: In the "Bands" section you'll find some awesome live-pictures from ProgPower Scandinavia 2007, courtesy of photographer Jacob Dinesen. Go check 'em out! Friday February 01st 2008: We're extremely happy to announce the first two bands for ProgPower Scandinavia 2008. Anubis Gate from Denmark is a band that should appeal to both the power metal and the progressive metal audience with their mixture of old school heavy metal riffs, big melodies and sci-fi conceptual lyrics. ProgPower Scandinavia 2008 is the first confirmed show for this band in their current line-up, featuring new vocalist Jacob Hansen (ex-Invocator, Beyond Twilight), also known as one of the most respected producers on the worldwide metal scene. Anubis Gate will be playing as second band of the night on Friday October 31st. Cloudscape from Sweden will be opening the show on the second day, Saturday November 1st. Their music is that of a highly melodic metal band with a dark feeling to it (that is very typical of Swedish bands) and some progressive touches here and there. Their 3rd album "Global Drama" will be released in 2008. Having performed earlier on to great response at both ProgPower UK and ProgPower Europe, it was clear to us that we needed this band to be present at ProgPower Scandinavia as well. At the same time we're also very proud to be able to welcome two futher sponsors to our list of great companies we're working with on making ProgPower Scandinavia the best metal festival in Denmark: Carlsberg Beer Coca-Cola Monday January 21st 2008: 2008 is here and it's time to let you all in on our plans for this year! The festival will once again take place at The Rock in Copenhagen, Denmark. The date however has been moved forward to Friday October 31st and Saturday November 1st (instead of mid-November as it was in 2007). The first bands will be revealed during February, so bookmark this page and check up every day to see YOUR favourite band being booked for PP Scan 2! Below are the sponsors that have supported the ProgPower Scandinavia Festival in 2007 and will continue to do so in 2008. We are very proud that our sponsors have chosen to do so, and we urge you to support them! A festival with a decent amount of people coming and going (it wasn't sold out, but how many festivals of this genre is really that in its first year...), 10 great concerts in 2 days and an insane amount of laughs and drinks being shared among friends and fellow music fans. First of all a big thanks to everyone in the audience who made this weekend an amazing experience. Looking back on the reports from the security guys at the venue I can safely say that this was one of the most quiet weekends at The Rock in terms of fights and drunkeness (well, there were plenty of drunken fans, but none that went overboard) :-). All the smiling faces in the audience was worth it all. A huge thank you to all of you out there paying your hard earned money for going to our little festival. Then - THANK YOU to the bands for all putting on great shows and being real pro's during the entire weekend. No rock star attitudes, but instead lots of happy attitudes and the beginning of new friendships (or extending old ones). I'd like to extend a huge thank you to The Rock for providing us with great facilities for the festival and for believing in this project from the very beginning. The entire staff at the venue deserves a big applause for their help. As many of the regular guests at the venue noticed, the sound was better than ever before (with only few exceptions, all bands had brilliant sound). This was in large part due to the brand new sound system at The Rock, but also equally much thanks to our brilliant sound crew (Kupper, Teddy and Joachim). Also thank you to our lighting guys Anders and Kevin! Thanks in large also to our sponsors: VME for providing competition-giveaways, Cult/Jägermeister/JackDaniels for the backstage booze (and the following headaches, hehe) and all those who helped us with logos, advertisements in magazines, banner adverts on websites, poster prints etc. Now, of a more personal nature, I really want to thank my business partner and friend Lars for venturing out on this festival experience with me. For several years we've shared the idea of doing that and for almost 1 year we've been working towards this weekend. You're the best! Also, an enourmous THANK YOU to our entire crew of Intromental guys, our lovely wifes/girlfriends and families who all went beyond the call of duty. This weekend was everything we wanted it to be, and we can assure you that we'll be back in 2008 with another strong line-up. Claus PROGPOWER SCANDINAVIA / INTROMENTAL MANAGEMENT Monday October 22nd 2007: For the Danish people: You now have a chance to win tickets for the event at www.cult.dk and www.musik.bt.dk. Firewind from Greece is one of the best-known exponents for melodic heavy metal infused with some old school neo-classical guitar shredding and true powerhouse vocals. We're extremely happy to have these bands on-board! And the Finnish power metal force of Machine Men will add a touch of old school atmosphere to the stage, yet at the same time provide a young and fresh approach to what heavy metal is all about. More bands to be announced soon ... Sunday April 01st 2007: Welcome to the official site for PROGPOWER SCANDINAVIA. We're proud to announce that the first ProgPower Scandinavia festival will be held at The Rock in Copenhagen, Denmark on November 9th and 10th 2007. Today we announce the first 4 out of a total of 10 bands for the festival - the first 4 are: - Mercenary - Threshold - Circus Maximus - Andromeda With these 4 bands we have already determined that the festival is going to have a broad appeal; from the the very British sounding prog-rock/prog-metal of Threshold, the technical overflow from Sweden's Andromeda, the melodic progressive metal of Norway's Circus Maximus to the Danish melo-death band Mercenary, we will try to come up with a mixture of bands and styles within the power & progressive spectre that will please everyone. The next couple of bands will be announced in a few weeks. Stay tuned :-) |
