NOSTRADAMEUS (Sweden) www.nostradameus.com With the ”Pathway”- album, the Gothenburg Heavy-Metallers in Nostradameus settles the account with all the disbelievers, all the heartless, and all the people who had the guts to doubt the band’s capability of creating a truly remarkably strong album sounding nothing else than Nostradameus. What the guys started with the “Hellbound”-album, they finish with this fine piece of rage, energy, frustration, hate and utter darkness. The album was created during almost two years consisting of a lot of different crossroads for each and every member of the band. Hard times and hard choices for everyone resulted in an album pointing out the new direction, both for the band, but also for the people involved in the family that is Nostradameus. The lyrics are very different from the ones we’ve known this band by before and deals, partly with topics most of us can recognise as we’re crawling thru hard times every now and then, but they also points the edge on the different kind of hypocrisy we see in this world on a far too regular basis these days. Apart from this the guys also, for the first time, recognise their heritage and presents an epic track about the one and only, Nostradamus himself. The “Pathway”-album was recorded, mixed and mastered in Roasting House recording studio, Malmö, Sweden, on different occasions during a period of almost five months, all in order to get the very best out of each and every one in the band, but also to get the best possible sound and production. The demon-producer, Pontus Lindmark, really pushed everyone and everything to the limit, making sure nothing would be important other than Nostradameus, bringing to the metal market, a really 100% top-class product. The band was founded in 1998 by the two remaining original-members, Jake Fredén and Freddy Persson. They released the debut “Words Of Nostradameus” in 2000 before changing the line-up by taking in a new guitarist, Michael Åberg, and a new drummer, Jesse Lindskog. Since Freddy wanted to focus on the vocals, they also decided to take Thomas Antonsson in, as a permanent bassplayer. With this line-up, 2001’s “The Prophet Of Evil” was released before the band and Jesse decided to split. Esko Salow was engaged for the European tour the same year together with a.o. Edguy as the new drummer of Nostradameus. In 2003, “The Third Prophecy” was released and the band set out for another tour around Europe, this time together with HammerFall and Masterplan. The tour was a great success and once back in Sweden, the band immediately started the work with the “Hellbound”-album. The intention was to create their own sound and in 2004, the album was out on the market. Due to different circumstances, mostly of personal character, the band decided to go very easy on the live performances this time. The band was spread out all over Sweden and other things had to be prioritised at the moment in order to get thru at all. This resulted in silence from the band for some time. However, when this new album, this new era, in the history of Nostradameus, see the light of the day, it’s already January 2007. The band and Michael Åberg have decided to go separate ways and a new guitarist has been found in Lennart Specht. To say the least; it’s about time to re-evaluate the status of this band and to recognize their true capacity. With the “Pathway”-album in the luggage, the guys are once again set out to conquer the world on the live, Heavy Metal scene ...
